HOUSTON (June 12, 2019) The vibrant Nigerian community is ready to shake and bring their over-the-top fashion sense to Downtown Houston. The 3rd Annual Nigeria Cultural Parade & Festival is underway in a MAJOR way on Saturday, September 28th at Root Memorial Square – 1400 Clay Street starting at 9:00 am until Downtown Houston is painted green and white!
Last year was grand but this year, it’s going to be extraordinary! Masquerades representing various tribes (pictured on the right) will be in full force in the parade and featured at City Hall during the entire month of September in the Rotunda. Akwa Entertainment will present the Ekombi dance, a graceful dance of peace and happiness.
Wazobia African Market, the largest African Store in the state of Texas will be bringing a taste of home! Spectators will enjoy on the most cultural exports of Nigeria, the Jollof rice, and peppered suya will be making it’s rounds in the park. Rain or shine, it is about to be an epic street-wide celebration. “Naija no dey carry last!”
